MATERNAL AND CHILD HEALTH
The Rotary Club of Kalayaan Cagayan de Oro (RCK) with the Rotary Clubs in Cagayan de Oro partnered with Cagayan de Oro City Nutrition Office on its project “Hakab sa Oro and Milk Letting Activity last August 12, 2022 at Limketkai Event Center.
This activity was undertaken to celebrate the August Breastfeeding month. The event aimed to raise awareness on the importance of breastfeeding and to strengthen the community-based support group in protecting and promoting breastfeeding and providing adequate, safe and timely complementary feeding.
RCK distributed lunch for 120 participants and the working committee. Present were DGE Gigi Go, PAG Nennen Aberilla, PAG Emma Tan, Pres. Lilit, Project Chair Aster Daan, Cachor Reyes, Maricel Casiño-Rivera and Frances Acuña.
2ND HAKAB SA ORO AND MILK LETTING ACTIVITY
PAG-AMUMA SA BATANG INAHAN
We launched "Pag-amuma sa Batang Inahan" in partnership with Brgy Gusa, SK Officials of Gusa and DSWD-10. This dialogue aimed to guide young mothers on the health risks of early pregnancy, parenting tips for young parents and share ideas on how to move forward meaningfully and productively. The following topics were discussed: Health Risks for Teenage Pregnancies, Parenting Tips for Young Mothers, Good Nutrition for Nursing Moms and Infants and Intervention Programs from the DSWD. This was held in Gusa Elementary School Covered Court last September 18, 2022.

It was indeed a meaningful and productive Sunday for everyone. We catered to 34 adolescent mothers, the youngest of them is aged 14. Every mom participant received grocery packs, toiletries and vitamins.

We would like to thank Dr Ardel Padayhag for being our resource speaker along with Dr. Cañete of DSWD.
To make this project more impactful, we have to sustain it with further interventions.

"MAG NEGOSYO TA"
The Rotary Club of Kalayaan CDO, in partnership with DTI and Barangay Gusa, organized a simulated workshop for teenage mothers. The workshop promotes entrepreneurship appreciation through the BEST Game (Business. Expenses. Savings Training). To supplement the learnings from the game, we have heard some words from our fellow mompreneur rotarians, sharing their experiences and emphasizing the values of cooperation, collaboration and fair competition in a business setting along with juggling their responsibilities at home.
We were glad to have hosted 50 teenage mothers despite it being held on a Sunday afternoon. They brought their families with them and it’s heartwarming to see the support coming from their partners taking care of their babies/kids while the mothers are in session.
